ENPULSION and R-Space to Collaborate on Indium
Vienna Airport, Schwechat, Austria – ENPULSION is proud to support the OOBI project – On-Orbit Behaviour of Indium. OOBI is an experimental platform for investigating the behavior of Indium in the micro-gravity environment. The payload consists of a Raspberry Pi for control, an optical camera, LEDs for lighting, and the scientific samples. The samples consist of hardware wetted with Indium, which is the propellant used in ENPULSION FEEP thrusters. While heating the samples to the melting point of Indium (~156°C), images will be taken as the liquid metal distributes, and those images will be transmitted back to earth through the R-Space Greenbox platform.
The payload occupies only one third of a CubeSat unit at 9.2×8.7×3.2 cm. The small form factor makes the R-Space Greenbox an ideal platform to support the study and validation of liquid metal behavior in orbital conditions.

The evergrowing Vienna Airport Space Hub
The Vienna Airport Space Hub kept on growing since ENPULSION moved its headquarters in 2024. Strategically located at Vienna International Airport, the hub leverages its unque location and strong infrastructure, and facilitates access to export logistics and global supply chains. For these reasons, the Space Hub community saw the arrival of emerging new players joining such as GATE Space, the ESA Philab, ENGSPACE, or R-Space.
"This partnership is a concrete example of what the Vienna Airport Space Hub can achieve in terms of agility," said Alexander Reissner, CEO and co-founder of ENPULSION. “We are looking forward to collaborating wtih R-Space for the first time.”
“We founded R-Space to provide a fast and accessible platform for in-orbit research and development. It is exciting to see this vision already taking shape through partnerships with leading companies such ENPULSION said Carsten Scharleman, CEO of R-Space. “It is the validation of our innovative business model and value proposition.”

About R-Space
At R-Space, we provide the tools and expertise required for rapid and accessible in-orbit demonstration and validation (IOD/IOV) services. Our advanced IOD/IOV satellite platform shortens development cycles, enables faster and more efficient in-orbit testing, and helps de-risk early-stage space technologies. By doing so, we empower companies to validate their innovations in space and bring them to market ahead of the competition.
About ENPULSION
Enpulsion is transforming the future of satellite mobility and maneuverability. As a global leader in electric propulsion for small satellites, we design, build, and deliver precision thrusters powered by field emission electric propulsion (FEEP) technology. With more than 300+ units in orbit, 600 units delivered, and a proven TRL 9 platform, our systems are trusted by commercial, civil, and defense missions. From agile CubeSats to spacecraft up to 500 kg, Enpulsion solutions enable orbit-raising, high-precision maneuvering, and unmatched reliability.
